EA Sports’ rebranded FIFA series, EA Sports FC, is consistently one of the world’s 10 biggest, if not top 5 sellers. Last year was its first under the new name as the publisher and soccer’s global body parted ways after 20 years.

Otherwise, a lot of the game was a continuation of the old series, in the sense of features being iterated on, new clubs being added, and the marketing cadence of trailers, reveals, and previews that preceded it.

When will EA Sports FC 25 be released?
EA Sports FC 25 will launch on Sept. 27 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. Those who pre-order the Ultimate Edition of the game will get a full week of early access beginning Sept. 20. Those with an EA Play subscription will get a 10-hour trial with the game beginning Sept. 20, as well.

How much will EA Sports FC 25 cost?
The standard edition of EA Sports FC 25 will cost $69.99, $59.99 on Nintendo Switch. A $99.99 Ultimate Edition is also available. That includes a slew of virtual goods for the Ultimate Team mode, including 4,600 FC points, which is the real-money currency that mode uses to buy things like card packs from the Ultimate Team marketplace.

What platforms will EA Sports FC be on?
EA Sports FC’s lead platforms are PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X. The game is also available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The Nintendo Switch version is $10 less than its counterparts on other platforms, but appears to contain the new feature set serving the lead platforms. No mention is made of Hypermotion V technology, but the product listing does mention the new FC IQ system of user-defined tactics and player behavior, which depend on Hypermotion V.

It dropped on Thursday, July 18. There it is above, featuring cover star Jude Bellingham of Real Madrid.

What will be in EA Sports FC 25?
EA Sports FC 25 will stand pat on the evolution of its HyperMotion V, but it will support that technology with something called FC IQ, which is not only an additional layer of more sophisticated and lifelike player behavior, it also allows players new dimension of tactical control over their sides. Players will be able to assign their performers one of 31 position-specific roles (the goalkeeper included) to build out a club that plays distinctly and according to the style the user prefers. FC IQ’s effects will be seen in all modes of play, but most notably in the longer-term modes like Career.

In Career, players will find a full-parity women’s soccer career allowing them to make a superstar’s journey through one of five domestic leagues (with national and federation competitions also available, just like the men’s career). And, just like the men, should players decided to hang up their boots, they can roll right into a managerial career with the same character — even taking her into one of the men’s leagues to coach a side there.

New to EA Sports FC 25 this year will be a 4-on-4 mode called Rush which replaces Volta Soccer, a street soccer mode that never quite caught on with players in past versions. In Rush, players will sprint to the ball somewhat like Rocket League to begin the game, then play a fast-paced game on a smaller pitch with slight rule variations. It’s more of a “real soccer” experience that, with its smaller roster size, emphasizes each player and gives them more time on the ball. Rush will likewise have a presence in all modes of play, including Ultimate Team, Clubs, and even Career, where its events serve as a scrimmage for a team’s youth academy.

Will there be any special editions for EA Sports FC 25?
Yes, the $99.99 Ultimate Edition is available for pre-order now. It’s an entirely digital special edition (no physical copy, nor collector’s premiums). It’s currently the most pre-ordered game on the PlayStation Store. Here’s everything players get in it:
